Mubarak's health slides on his 83rd birthday Ousted president Hosni Mubarak's health condition has deteriorated further ahead of his birthday today, as his grandson plans to take him a cake
The condition of toppled Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's health has deteriorated further on his 83rd birthday, Ahram Online has learnt. Mubarak, who was ousted on 11 February following an 18-day revolt, has been detained at the Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital pending investigations into charges that he ordered the killing of peaceful protesters, accumulating illegal profits and persistently abusing his unfettered power during his 30-year reign. According to media reports, the ousted president's health has been anything but stable since his overthrow. Sources told Ahram Online, hours before his birthday, that Mubarak's depression notably reflected on his health. He even refuses to see family members. However, the sources said Mubarak's grandson Omar, a rarity in being a male Mubarak not in custody, will take him a cake to celebrate his birthday on 4 May, in an attempt to lift his spirits. Both of Mubarak's sons, Alaa and Gamal, have been remanded in police custody pending investigations. They were incarcerated in Tora Prison last month along with numerous former ministers and high-profile government officials. A host of Mubarak's supporters plan to rally at the state television building in Maspero today to celebrate his birthday.
