Egypt international duo Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Hamoudi could feature against Real Madrid and Liverpool after being included in Basel's UEFA Champions League squad. Elneny, on Basel's books since January 2013, has made three Swiss league appearances this season – whereas newly-signed Hamoudi has yet to feature in the domestic competition. Ex-Smouha playmaker Hamoudi, however, featured for the whole match in a 4-0 Swiss cup defeat over Italien GE on his Basel debut – his single appearance for his new club so far. Throughout his year and a half stay in Switzerland, Elneny has played 20 continental games for Basel – including three Champions League group stage appearances last season. The Egypt duo, who were included in the Pharaohs' squad for the CAN 2015 qualifier at Senegal on 5 September, could now feature against holders Real Madrid and English Premier League runners-up Liverpool in the Champions League Group B. Reigning Swiss champions Basel open their campaign against Real at Santiago Bernabeu on 16 September, before hosting Liverpool a fortnight later.
