No fans at Ahly-Etoile showdown in Cairo Stadium: EFA Ahly will play their CAF Confederation Cup group stage final against Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel at Cairo Stadium without fan attendance
Ahly will face Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel in the CAF's group stage final game on Saturday at Cairo Stadium behind closed doors, Egyptian Football Association spokesman Azmi Megahed told Ahram Online on Monday. "There is a verbal approval from security authorities to host Ahly's coming game in the Confederation Cup at Cairo Stadium without fans' attendance," the EFA spokesman told Ahram Online. "The game was scheduled to be played at Arab Contractors Stadium but Ahly management and EFA officials did their best to change the game's venue," he added. The Cairo giants Ahly are on top of Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup with eight points and only need one point when they take on Etoile du Sahel to secure a spot in the semifinal. Ahly's management was working to allow fans to attend the game to support the team inside the stadium, but the Egyptian interior ministry confirmed the game will be played behind closed doors. The Red Devils are the only Egyptian representative in the African tournament after rivals Zamalek were eliminated from the CAF Champions League last week.
