Zamalek renew confidence in coach Mido Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam quit his job as coach - only to have a close meeting with the club president and say that he will stay on until the end of his contract next summer
Zamalek's president announced on Thursday that the team's coach Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam will continue coaching Zamalek despite the team's poor results in the Egyptian League. Zamalek's hopes to win the Egyptian league ended on Wednesday after they received their second successive loss from Smouhain the Egyptian Premier League's final four-team mini-league phase. Earlier in the day, Mido declared his resignation from his post – before the club's president had a close meeting with the young coach and announced that he would remain in his post. ''He worked in very hard circumstances and they were stronger than him," Zamalek president Mortada Mansour said on Thursday. "He will remain in his post, but if he wants to leave the club we cannot prevent him," he added. "The team needs many modifications and that's why we've hired 12 new players so far.'' But the 31-year-old coach said that the team's players are not qualified to play for a great club like Zamalek and that he will continue his mission with the club until the end of his contract, next summer. "I will remain in my post until the end of my contract. I hope that we have a great season with the new players in the next season," Mido concluded. Zamalek will face Harras El-Hodoud on Thursday in the Egyptian Cup's quarter finals. They will continue their campaign in the CAF Champions League's quarters at the end of this month.
