Mido apologies to Zamalek crowd, blames 'circumstances'
Mido, the youngest Egyptian football manager, states that he is returning to being a "third-class fan"

Zamalek coach Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam thanked the 'great Zamalek fans' for their support, apologising for failing to make their dreams come true.
"I thank the great Zamalek crowd for its support since the first moment and I am sorry I was not able to make your dreams a reality," the 31-year-old tactician stated Thursday on Twitter.
The former nomadic striker expressed his 'loyalty' to his boyhood club, which gave him early coaching opportunities, after they received the second successive loss by Smouha in the Egyptian Premier League final four-team mini-league phase.
"I have been faithful in my job since the first day; I left the whole world, did my best and challenged all circumstances in my attempts to please you [Zamalek fans]," added the recently retired player who starred with Ajax, Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Roma, Marseille and many other European clubs after failing to inspire the Cairo-based club to their first trophy since 2004.
"The circumstances were stronger than me, and now I return a third-class fan again but I will always be the club's loyal servant. I love you Zamalek," Mido added in his statement, perceived as a retirement note.
Some local reports quickly suggested that club president Mortada Mansour rejected Mido's retirement, sticking with him until the end of the season.
After a 1-0 defeat by rivals Ahly and a 2-1 loss by Alexandrian Smouha, Zamalek are playing Petrojet -- who have also lost twice -- in a third place decider.
The Whites are also competing in the Egypt Cup quarterfinals and the CAF Champions' League group stage.
