Egypt's newly reappointed Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has said the cabinet will hold its first meeting Monday to discuss implementing the programme of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi. In a statement to Al-Ahram Arabic news website, Mahlab said the cabinet will be formed at the beginning of this week. Mahlab said one of the cabinet's priorities will be to ensure progress on the final stage of Egypt's political roadmap: parliamentary elections. He said the government will make the administrative and logistical arrangements so the poll is conducted smoothly. With the conclusion of Egypt's presidential elections in May and the preceding approval, via referendum, of a new constitution in January, the parliamentary vote will complete the political roadmap instituted by the army and aligned political forces after the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013. Mahlab refuted rumours that a new ministry will be established for informal settlements and another for small businesses. President El-Sisi reappointed Mahlab Monday to head a caretaker government, shortly after Mahlab resigned as interim premier.
