Ahly, Zamalek players out of Egypt's squad for Chile, Jamaica friendlies
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 05 - 2014

Due to their participation in African tournaments, Ahly and Zamalek players will miss Egypt's friendlies against Chile and Jamaica; long-time first choice goalkeeper El-Hadary has been recalled
Egypt national team coach Shawky Gharib has excluded Ahly and Zamalek players from his team's final squad for the two upcoming friendly games against Chile and Jamaica in London on 30 May and 4 June respectively.
The Pharaohs will face Chile and Jamaica in friendlies as part of their preparations for the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Under the helm of coach Gharib, Egypt is hoping to begin a new era as it prepares for the African Cup of Nations in Morocco in July 2015.
The 55-year-old tactician has excluded Ahly and Zamalek players for their participation in the African Confederation Cup and African Cup of Nations, as the two sides are the only Egyptian representatives in the African tournaments.
Moreover, Gharib has included Egypt's veteran goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary, who was shown the door in American coach Bob Bradley's era.
Early on Thursday, seven foreign-based players -- including Chelsea's Mohamed Salah and Hull City's Ahmed El-Mohamady -- were named in the Pharaohs' prime squad.
