Egypt's main index falls following two sessions of gains Following two upward sessions Monday and Tuesday, Egypt's EGX30 index dipped Wednesday to end on 8,626 points
Egypt's benchmark index, the EGX30, declined 0.36 percent to 8,626 points Wednesday while the broader index, the EGX70, fell 0.52 percent. The EGX30 made considerable gains in the last two sessions, moving from 8,532 points at the beginning of Monday's session to 8,658 points at the end of Tuesday's session. Wednesday's turnover of listed stocks registered LE855.6 million. Arab investors were net buyers to the tune of LE31.9 million while Egyptian investors were net sellers at LE18 million. Market bellwether Commercial International Bank fell 0.98 percent to LE38.35 per share. The financial sector was mostly in decline as EFG-Hermes fell 0.21 percent to LE14.12 per share, and Pioneers Holding dropped 1.23 percent to LE13.6 per share. In the telecommunications sector, Telecom Egypt and Global Telecom Holding inched up 0.07 percent to LE14.4 per share and 0.19 percent to LE5.42 per share respectively, whereas Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Company fell 1.46 percent to LE1.36 per share.
