CAIRO: The Contemporary Image Collective (CIC) will be hosting a new exhibition entitled "Hydrarchy: transitional and transformative seas," opening on Sunday December 4 at 7:00 P.M. It is a group exhibition focusing on the sea as a geopolitical and economic space, the power struggles, surrounding events, responses to past and recent maritime events. Curated by Mia Jankowicz, the exhibition explores various sea related topics from tourism to piracy. It is largely keeping the ship as the arena of central focus, in which all these situations occur, such as the Mediterranean Basin, the Suez Canal, the besieged Gaza Strip and the broader North African context. Artists include Ayed Arafah, Bouchra Khalili, the Otolith Group, Xaviera Simmons, Take To The Sea, Lawrence Weiner and Uriel Orlow, who will be presenting a new installation "The Yellow Fleet” (2010).
