The “Join Us” initiative will organize a ceremony commemorating the Global Day for Human Solidarity on December 20. The ceremony is to encourage Egypt's cultural reconstruction, said Wael Gheryeany, head of the initiative. The day aims to promote solidarity and cooperation among Egyptian youth concerning community development and to foster communication between all members of Egyptian society, including orphans and those with special needs. Ghereyany said actor Mohamed Sobhy, a prominent social activist, will be honored for his work with slums and his campaign, “The Billion.” Deaf and dumb members of Egyptian society will participate in the “Planting 500 trees” initiative during the ceremony, and Egyptian orphans will color Egypt's Peace Mural, according to Ghereyany. Many sectors of Egyptian society plan on participating in the event that aims to cultivate solidarity among youths and empower them to use communication as a means towards achieving community development.
