Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon expressed concern about the violence in Egypt during the past few days Saturday, adding that "he regretted the loss of life and the large number of wounded." The spokesman for the Secretary-General reiterated his call for the Egyptian government to ensure protection of human rights and civil liberties for all Egyptians. He called for an "orderly and peaceful transition that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Egyptian people through transparent and credible elections leading to the establishment of civilian rule."
