CAIRO: Tahrir Square turned into a battleield when the clashes were renewed for the second consecutive day between Egyptian protesters and security forces on Sunday November 20. The forces threw tear gas bombs onto the protesters and opened fire with shotguns in the streets leading to Egypt's Ministry of Interior, while the protesters responded by throwing stones at the security forces. School students joined the protesters and clashed with the security forces as well in Mohammad Mahmoud Street leading to the Ministry of Interior headquarters. Meanwhile, hundreds of Egyptians are entering into Tahrir Square since early morning of Sunday November 20. Doctors and ambulances immediately went to the square to help out the injured there. The protesters controlled all entrances of Tahrir Square with iron barriers and trees. The surrounding residents tried to convince the protesters to put an end to their sit-in and protests. Their attempt was in vain and little clashes were aroused with both sides, leading the residents to leave the square. The Ministry of Interior barricaded its headquarters and intensified security forces in all streets leading to the ministry. The security forces seemed very exhausted due to clashes between them and the protesters since Saturday morning November 19. Meanwhile, the protesters are anticipating a speech by chairman of Egypt's ruling military council Hussein Tantawi on the incidents in Tahrir. The toll of injured reached 768 persons. Two people were killed, one in Cairo and one in Alexandria, according to Egypt's Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad el-Sherbini.
