U.S. company Intel announced its “a computer for every Egyptian” initiative in cooperation with Lenovo, B-Tech, Carrefour, Compu-me, Computer Shop, Fahem, Mobile Shop, Nahdet Masr and Ostaz Online. The company aims to spread laptops on a wide scale in Egypt by providing modern technology at convenient prices for Egyptian students. The initiative is considered a part of Intel's international program spreading technology's benefits to three billion users. It is also a prelude to a campaign all over Egypt which will start in the coming few months. Intel developed an experimental campaign targeting Egyptian students who are first time computer buyers to apply this initiative. The initiative concentrates on the efforts of the business sector to achieve the goal of providing Egyptians with computers at low prices, ADSL and 3G internet services and educational content for self-education. There are 25 million Egyptian internet users but only a small percentage of them have computers at home, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
