KHARTOUM, Sudan: The Sudanese Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said his government is ready to launch negotiations with the newly-declared state of South Sudan and it is expecting the South's answer to be delivered by mediator Thabo Mbeki. Rahmat Allah Mohamed denied statements by the South Sudanese Minister of Investment, who said that the South Sudanese government received an official notification from the Sudanese government suspending negotiations. Mohamed told the Sudanese newspaper "Al-Intebaha" that the Sudanese government did not send any notifications and it is ready for negotiations. Another Sudanese official expected that Khartoum would boycott the resumption of negotiations with South Sudan, scheduled for Nov. 19 in Ethiopia. The boycott could be due to security tensions between the two states. It should be noted that the Sudanese president is expected to announce a cabinet reshuffle within the next 48 hours. However, press sources said that the reshuffle would come next week at the latest. Arabic here
