Military prosecution summoned Ahmed Darrag, a leader in the National Association for Change, to be interrogated Tuesday regarding the Maspiro clashes. Darrag said that he will not be interrogated before the military prosecution as an accused or a defendant, as he rejects civilians being tried by military trials. “I am a civilian and I will be tried only before a civil court,” he said. “I do not object if civil prosecution summons me.” Darrag said what is happening to him happened to activist Alaa Abdel Fattah, and his situation must be considered as message to the Egyptian people that military trials against civilians must be abolished immediately. He said many activists were summoned regarding the Maspiro case despite their innocence. Darrag said he could be taken as an example, and many Coptic activists were summoned on the same day in an attempt to eliminate opposition.
