The European Union Delegation will organize its fourth photography competition in Egypt for amateur photographers, which will judge the 30 best photographs capturing “New Egypt.” The deadline for the competition is November 14. The contest invites contestants to “express their vision for Egypt in this most crucial time in the country's history; this current period offers a rich source of inspiration for photographers: the dreams, events, contradictions, frustrations, optimism and the search for a better future.” The winner will be selected by a jury composed of several prominent experts and will be awarded a prize of 1,000 Euros. The second winner will be awarded a digital SLR camera. A special award will be given to the photo that presents the most journalistic talent, which will be in honor and memory of Mohamed Hassan, one of the winners of the first competition. Twelve winning photos will also be selected to be a part of a 2012 calendar, to be published by the EU delegation. The best thirty photos will be displayed in an art gallery. The judges will be photographers Randa Shaath and Khaled Dessouky and OnTV broadcaster Reem Maged.
