NORTH SINAI, Egypt: Egyptian police foiled an attempted robbery and kidnapping today in the Sinai Peninsula. Gunmen attempted to target citizens and passengers along the international Taba Negev - Nakhl Suez road in Middle Sinai. Unknown gunmen opened fire on certain cars and took control of two cars near Nakhl town in the middle of Sinai on the international road. Some cars called the police, who responded to the call and came to the site of the incident. They shot at the gunmen, but the assailants fled into the desert. The 250-kilometer road is well secured to prevent possible attacks and robbery of passengers, said the head of the North Sinai Police Directorate, Saleh el-Masry.
