Head of the Red Sea ports' authority Abdel Kadir said all Egyptian passengers of the Billa ferry arrived at Akaba port and none died. He said 27 suffered from smoke inhalation and one Jordanian died. He drowned while escaping from the flames. It was the only case of death among the passengers. Security sources said fire broke out in the ferry's garage, which contained five trucks and 42 other vehicles. The fire broke out on the ferry 35 miles away from Nuwieba port.
