The April 6 Youth Movement condemned transferring civilians to military courts and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces' administration in a statement Monday, coming after a prominent activist was jailed and referred to a military trial. “To the officials who rule Egypt until the end of transitional phase: the people trusted you, so stop fabricating facts,” the statement read. “We don't know if this fabrication is of your production or manipulation by those in the old security systems, which all people know were liars.” “Has not the suitable time came to be ruled by someone who can realize the real meaning of citizens' security? Has not the suitable time came to distinguish between those who protect their posts and who those protect the country?” the statement asked. It continued, “You promised many times to stop trying civilians before military courts, however you did not meet your promise. We trusted you all the time. You ruled Egypt through honorable martyrs, whom any nation would be proud of. Meanwhile, you accused them without any evidence or proof.” “Activist Alaa Abdul Fatah and other activists were arrested several times during the regime of the tyrant Hosni Mubarak,” the statement read, referring to a prominent activist recently summoned to military court. “However they were not tried in front of military courts before.” “Our message to you, military council generals, is that your rule of Egyptian freedoms, rights, and dignity has turned to military trials,” it read. “We repeat: we have not any place for rulers who rule us from their military camps. We completely refuse that.” “We inform you that if any one of our members is summoned to investigations by a military consul, we will refuse to attend the investigation because we refuse these kind of trials.” The statement then addressed the people saying, “Great Egyptian Free People, who struggled for freedom in the January 25 Revolution, this is how the revolution now is retreating backwards.” Finally, the statement addresses Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, saying that it announced separation between the premier and the movement.
