CAIRO: Center of Creation Cinema of Cairo Opera House will present a documentary film on Friday October 28 about the Cairo Opera in the 40th anniversary of Cairo Opera burning. Egyptian Minister of Culture Emaad Abu Ghazi and director of Cultural Development Fund Mohammad Abu Sedaa will attend the film at 8:00 P.M. The 40-minute documentary film will show rare scenes of the burning of the Cairo Opera House that broke out on October 1971 and destroyed completely. The Opera House was restored on November 1, 1829. In 1869, Khedive Ismail gave instructions to build the Opera House to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal. It was called Khedivial (Royal) Opera House and was meant to be a lasting and outstanding symbol of the arts of drama and music.
