Townhouse Gallery will host a fashion show Oct. 30 to showcase the work of up-and-coming fashion designers. The fashion show is the outcome of the "Egyptian designing" workshop, where 11 trainees worked under the supervision of the designer Eslam Hamed. The workshop focused on paying homage to what it means to be Egyptian. through the creative refashioning of Oriental designs to fit with contemporary usage and style. The "My dress is Egyptian" fashion show falls within the many activities of the "Being Egyptian" festival which aims celebrating being Egyptian. The event is organized by el-Taaeiba center, a non-profit organization aimed at cultural and artistic development. Established in 2009, el-Taaeiba was created by a group of volunteers who wanted to build Egyptian youth awareness and develop their talents within arts and culture. The center has organized training courses, workshops, festivals, and a variety of other events revolving around cinema, theatre, and the visual arts.
