First Theatre director festival's events started on Tuesday October 25 at the Square of the High Institute for Theatrical Arts. The students at the institute organized a carnival reception for the guests by performing roles of classic theatrical characters such as Hamlet, Macbeth and Olivia. The festival was started by the dean of the institute of theatric arts, Abdel Nasser Gamil, who gave a speech and dedicated the ceremony to the deceased actor and director Saad Ardash. The events of the festival will continue until November 4. The arbitrary committee included Youm7's journalist and editor-in-chief Khaled Salah, director Inaam Mohamed Ali, actor Tawfiq Abdel Hamid, producers Mohamed Fawzy, Ashraf Zaki, Samir Ahmed and Essam Abdel Aziz. Abdel Nasser El-Gamil told Youm7 the goal of the festival is to discover new directors of the institute's students to form a new generation of special directors who present new and special theatrical performances. He said the festival includes 12 participating theatrical performances by the institute's students including “Tahet El-Tahdeed” in English written by Abu El-Ela El-Salamouny and directed by Mohamed Mekki; “Mayem show” written and directed by Rawan Mohamed; “Khaltet Moleir” written by Hassan Anwar and directed by Asmaa Abdel Nabi; “Hala Masrieya” written and directed by Mahmoud Hemdan. On the last day of the festival, there will be two shows, “Bohemeya” written by Ihab Gaber and directed by Ahmed Keshk and “Sengel” written and directed by Hossam Abdel Aziz. El-Gamil said the festival will give awards for the top three directors. He said after the festival, they will start an academic team for theatre that will be under auspices of chairman of Arts Academy, Sameh Mahran.
