CAIRO: Egyptian Minister of Foreign trade and Industry Mahmoud Eissa is scheduled to meet workers and administrators of spinning and weaving companies that are moving from the private to the public sector. Eissa will discuss production and economic problems facing workers such companies today, Monday, according to Abdul Fatah Ibrahim, head of the General Syndicate for Spinning and Weaving. Eissa will meet with workers' representatives and administrators. A total of 18,000 workers are affected by the changes. Abdul Fatah also said that the syndicate agreed with the administration of Amiriya for Spinning and Weaving Company, owned by Bank Misr, to raise the bonus of Amiriya's workers to 220 EGP (U.S. $37) and to increase the cost of their meal allowance to 210 EGP (U.S. $35.5). The syndicate agreed with Vista Company, which owns the Holding Company for Cotton and Textiles, to raise workers' wages as well. Vista has 1,500 workers, said Abdul Fatah He added that Alexandria Company for Spinning, which includes 4,000 workers, also agreed to raise wages.
