EGYPT: Dozens of protesting lawyers prevented members of the Attorney General's office from going to their offices at the Helwan Court Saturday. The closure comes as part of a protest by the lawyers, who are demanding reform of the Law of Judicial Authority. The attorneys headed to the headquarters in the south Cairo Neighborhood of Maadi to reclaim their jobs. Cases were adjourned for discussion, but work continued as normal in the Giza and Cairo courts. Trial sessions in different jurisdictions began Saturday morning. Judges' Club administrations decided to stop working in Egyptian courts until all courts and judges are completely secured. Egyptian Minister of Justice Mohamed el-Gendy was informed about the judges' decision. Arabic here Arabic here
