Activist lawyers and coalition of lawyer's youths gathered their colleague protestors in Cairo and other governorates to attend the General Assembly, which will be held next on Monday October 24 at the General Union. Governorate lawyers announced in a statement and on their page on Facebook they will attend the assembly, while others will participate in the march which will start on October 22 from outside North Cairo Court heading towards the headquarters of Egypt's ruling military council. Some lawyers are preparing for a partial strike on Monday October 24 and threatening to convert it to an open strike. Lawyers prepared a note including their demands to be submitted to the military council through a delegation. Their demands included the release of a clear resolution to stop and freeze the project of judicial authority's law, withdraw it and to be discussed and released by the next parliament. They also demanded the release of an urgent resolution to determine the date of the lawyer syndicate elections. Member of the front to defend the independence of the union, Omar Hafiz assured a large number of lawyers will attend the general assembly, which was called on by the head of the syndicate's candidates on Monday October 24. Hafiz added the assembly will be held at the headquarters of the general syndicate and if the number of attendance increased, it will be held in Ramsis St. outside the headquarters of the syndicate or on July 26 street. Hafiz pointed out they stopped their electoral campaigns because the law is in danger and the future of this profession and the syndicate is more important than the current elections.
