Head of railway authority Hany Hijab said the movement of Upper Egypt trains resumed after being stopped for 19 hours for repair of rail damages. This took place between Badrashin and Al-Marazik stations after a train collision with a horse-drawn carriage. Hijab said the movement of trains from Cairo to Aswan resumed on Friday October 21 at 10:30 P.M, whereas the movement of trains coming from Aswan to Cairo resumed after that. Hijab added the horse drawn carriage was made of iron, which caused the train off the rails. He pointed out the carriage driver saved his horse and left the carriage upon the rails once he saw the approaching train.
