CAIRO: The Egyptian Opera has established three new classes for students wishing to study the flute and violin. Committees composed of professors will conduct the necessary exams in October to choose those who will join the classes. Study will begin in January 2012. Opera Chairman Abdel Moneim Kamel said the step came to complete the role that the Egyptian Opera plays in improving public taste and to spread the “serious” arts, which he said Egyptian society strongly needs. Kamel added that the study will continue for three months to pave the way for the students to join higher levels. He said there will be also a class for drawing in cooperation with the managements of the museums and exhibitions of the Opera. The Center for Talent Development was established in 1992 with the aim of improving public taste in different arts.
