Sources revealed Al-Nour Party's supreme committee decided to elect 58 women in its list for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Egypt. They also mentioned the party is considering adding 30 more women, so there are 88 women in the party's electoral lists. Salafists are about to issue a statement including regulations set by Islamic Sharia Law in case women run for elections; this is considered a shift in the organization's attitude since it was against the election of women before the Egyptian January 25 Revolution. Chairman of Al-Nour Party Emad Abdel Ghaffar said the party welcomes electing Coptic Christian candidates if they have the experience and are efficient. The party would be honored to have Coptic Christians elected on the party's list.
