Egypt's media today reported that the Muslim Brotherhood refused to abandon the slogan “Islam is the solution.” Also, potential presidential candidate Selim el-Awa said al-Gamaa takes decisions only for its benefits without caring for others interests.
El Badry Farghaly announced he will call for opening the investigation around former president Mubarak's benefit from the imports of the Suez Canal and of Petroleum.
Youm7:
The General Secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party, Saad Katatni, said the party won't abandon the slogan “Islam is the solution” as a fundamental slogan for its electoral campaign.
He said the slogan is constitutional, legal, general and comprehensive and he pointed that the party is studying the usage of additional sub-slogans to serve the party's electoral program and its goals.
Al-Ahram:
Ranta Sahay, who is responsible for Egypt's file in the International Monetary Fund, said the fund was mistaken in not following up the privatization programs to ban the spread of corruption in the program. She said she supports imposing taxes on the profits of the Egyptian stock market and raising the tax rate on those who owns high profits.
Considering the loan which Egypt negotiated with the fund, she said although it is estimated at $3 billion 1.5 percent interest without conditions, the Egyptian government refused the loan and instead took an internal loan at 11 percent interest.
Sahay added that the fund believes the non-national economic programs always be doomed to failure. If the country which owns the program asked for a loan from the fund, the fund will study the program to determine how strength it is to accept the loan.
Al-Akhbar:
El Badry Farghly, the former deputy and leader of al-Tagammu Party, said Mubarak's regime took over 400 billion EGP (U.S. $67 billion) of the pension fund, which was completely eliminated in the chamber of execution of the public treasury.
Al -Masry Al-Youm:
Mohamed Salim el-Awa said the performance of the Muslim Brotherhood did not change after Egypt's January 25 Revolution and they ensured they only take decisions which match with their goals and benefits regardless of others.
Considering his position with Anba Bishoy, he said he doesn't regret it and isn't against the Coptic Christians. He said he will leave the “wine and bikini” issue to the lawyers, as he ensured the probability to meet with the two potential presidential candidates Abdel Moneim Abul Fetouh and Hazim Abu Ismail still exists.
He added that he is ensured that Hezbollah didn't allow Sami Shehab to escape from Egyptian prisons after January 25 Egyptian Revolution.
El Shorouq:
The potential Egyptian presidential candidate Amr Moussa said the next parliament will not include the majority but will include groups of representatives of political and partisan forces.
He added that the current political alliances' goal is the elections, and he is against the one consolidated list because it imposes only one option on the people.
Al-Gomhorreya:
The Council of Ministers sent the amendments of the law of the parliamentary elections to Egypt's ruling military council as a prelude to releasing a decree-law of the new amendments for article five.
Al-Gomhorreya reported that the political isolation will include members of the local councils for 2008 and members of People's and Shura Assemblies during the elections of 2010, members of political committee and secretariats of the National Democratic Party.
The new amendments of the law of elections come in the frame of the discussions which took place among the chairmen of the parties, Team Sami Anan and Chief of Staff.
