CAIRO – In its first day of trading for the week, the Egyptian Stock Exchange launched the new EGX20 index, which includes the 20 most active and liquid companies in Egypt. Egyptian Finance Minister Hazem al-Beblawy and Chairman of the Exchange Mohammed Omran opened the exchange this morning. The main EGX30 index rose 2.12 percent, reaching 4,225.16 points, and the new EGX20 rose 21.9 percent. Meanwhile, the EGX70 gained 3.72 percent and the EGX100 added 3.12 percent. Most EGX30 shares made early gains, except Juhayana, which fell 0.22 percent. International Commercial Bank gained 2.31 percent, TMG rose 2.98 percent, Ezz Steel tacked on 3.39 percent and Hermes added 1.79 percent.
