An official in the al-Wafd Party dismissed rumors that the party withdrew from the Democratic Coalition Friday evening, saying it still exists. Waheed Abdel Majid, head of the Democratic Coalition's electoral coordination committee, said the committee is still carrying out its tasks, but is having difficulty coordinating the high number candidates fielded by the coalition's 42 parties. "A wide discussion is being held between the coalition's parties to restructure the electoral lists to accommodate the high numbers of the candidates," said Abdel Majid. According to the official, no conflicts took place between the Muslim Brotherhood and the al-Wafd party regarding the possibility of a civil state in Egypt, saying the coalition was centered on the idea of a civil state.
