CAIRO: Sexism against women's participation in political life should end, especially in rural areas, said the head of Civil Society Organizations Union, Samir Aleesh. Aleesh highlighted the importance of women's role in taking political decision, adding women should seize the chance to make plans, programs, policies and to monitor, evaluate these plans in order to benefit the entire society, not just woman. The perspective of women participation in political life should change, especially after the Egyptian January 25 Revolution, which proved women and men alike participate together to go forward with the renaissance. Aleesh's remarks were made during a symposium organized by the Administration of Women affairs in the governorate of Minya. The symposium was entitled "Women's political participation in the elections of the People Assembly and Shura Council." There is coordination between the governorate and all concerned organizations in the field of women awareness to focus on political participation by holding symposiums and house visits. This action will especially take place in villages where a generation will emerge to re-build Egypt and avoid extremism and misunderstanding, deputy governor Abdel Nasser el-Domiaty said.
