Head of the Cairo Criminal Court and legal advisor Abdallah Abu Hashim today departed the Courthouse prior to sentencing in the case against former Chairman of the Radio and Television Union Osama el-Sheikh. Defendants's families interrupted him by cheering “False, False.” Some clashes erupted between el-Sheik supporters, some of whom caused damage to the Courthouse, cursed the judges and threw bottles. Security forces were called in to restore security and end the clashes. However, families clashed with the security guards as well before order could be restored. Today Judge Abdallah Abu Hashim, head of the Cairo Criminal Court in Tagamu el-Khamis, today sentenced former Minister of Information Anas al-Fiqi and Osama el-Sheikh to seven and five years, respectively.
