Links: , Thirteen parties, movements, and coalitions called on Egyptians to protest on Sep. 30 to demonstrate against the latest policies of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF). The criticized policies include: releasing restricted civil liberties, allowing holdovers from the former regime and members of the now-dissolved National Democratic Party to control the parliament through the new electoral law, and the emergency law. The National Front for Justice and Democracy, The Youth Movement for Justice and Freedom, Revolutionary Socialists, Parties of the National Coalition, the Egyptian Democratic Coalition, the Lotus Youth Coalition, and the Labor Party criticized the military council for not announcing a clear plan to deliver power to a civilian government. The groups set the demands of next Friday's protest, which include the repeal of the emergency law, the repeal of the law criminalizing strikes and sit-ins, accepting all laborers' demands, canceling military trials for civilians, setting a timetable for the transition of power, repealing the current electoral law, and implementing measures to ban regime holdovers from rigging elections or taking control over the parliament.
