CAIRO: The Egyptian Cabinet agreed to meet protesting teachers' demands Sunday, said Egyptian Minister of Education Ahmed Gamel el-Din Moussa. Moussa said around 90 percent of the demands would be met. The Ministry of Education officially appointed 130,000 co-teachers, and considered the situation of 123,000 teachers receiving bonuses. It will also retroactively allocate around 1.7 billion EGP (U.S. $285.2 million) for teachers' bonuses dating back to July 1. Prime Minister Essam Sharaf called on Egyptian teachers to open a new chapter and work. He highlighted the importance of meeting the people's demands, especially categorical ones.
