CAIRO: Egyptian teachers today protested outside the Cabinet headquarters, refusing Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's request to negotiate around their demands and renewing their call for the ousting of Education Minister Ahmed Gamal el-Din. “Prime Minister Sharaf assigned me to select representatives from the protesting teachers and meet the minister for a negotiation session,” Adel el-Messiery, the manager of Cairo's eastern sector, told Youm7. Teachers announced that they will continue their strike until their demands are met. Such demands include: raising the minimum wage to 1,200 EGP (U.S. $200.90), the cancellation of private staff examinations and the expulsion of the education minister.
