Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr today will deliver a statement to the United Nations General Assembly to articulate the features of and vision for Egyptian foreign policy in the coming months and years. “The statement will speak of Egyptian pride and the successes of the January 25 Revolution,” said Mohamed Rushdi, the official spokesman for the ministry of foreign affairs. “The statement will also confirm the determination of the Egyptian people in terms of completing the transitional period,” said Rushdi. “The statement will also release a policy statement in line with the peoples' ambition.” It is expected that the statement will express full Egyptian support for the Palestinian effort to obtain statehood recognition in the international body. “The statement will also urge other states to support Palestine in finding a fair solution to the conflict in the Middle East,” Rushdi said. Amr will call for more transparency and democracy inside the UN Security Council. The minister will also speak to the Sudan situation and ask the international community to support peaceful and stable development projects in both Sudan and South Sudan.
