CAIRO: Chairman of the new al-Umma political party Sami Hegazy announced that an Islamic bloc will be established to run in Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections. Hegazy said the bloc includes three Islamic parties. Among the group's members are Sheikh Karam Zuhdi, chairman of the Egyptian Jamaa Islamiya, and Fouad Aldawaleeby, a member of the Jamaa Islamiya's Shura Council. Aldawaleeby said some historical Islamic leaders will establish a new party that will not have any ties with the Building and Development Party, which is considered the political wing of the Jamaa Islamiya. Aldawaleeby also said, "We are the historical leaders who founded the ‘No Violence' initiative, and our party will express the idea of this initiative and our goal is to support moderation in the parliament."
