Khaled Said's portrait will be painted on the Berlin Wall, according to the Facebook page ‘We Are All Khaled Said.' Said died under disputed circumstances in June 2010. His death while in police custody is considered one of the catalysts of Egypt's January 25 Revolution, which toppled the country's 30-year ruling regime. Page administrators said Said's portrait will be painted on a segment of the iconic wall during the Human Rights Award 2011 ceremony on Monday. Said will be honored with the award posthumously by the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation in Berlin. His sister Zahraa Kassem will accept the award in Said's name. Famous German photo realist and graffiti artist Andreas von Chrzanowski, aka Case, and Kassem will paint two original segments of the Berlin Wall with Said's portrait during the award ceremony. Both segments originate from the area between the Brandenburger Tor and Potsdamer Platz. “The deeply symbolic painting will later be prominently placed at the Freedom Park on the banks of the river Spree,” said a post by administrators on Said's Facebook page. They added that in October Saids' portrait will be painted again in his hometown of Alexandria as part of a project by the Goethe Institute.
