Egyptian Minister of Health Amr Helmy met a delegation of the Tahrir Doctors' Assembly and the Egyptian Initiative for the Personal Rights to discuss how to include civil society and non-governmental organizations in Egyptian healthcare reform. Helmy accepted a working paper offered by the delegation that advocated the formation of committee composed of representatives from NGOs and the Health Ministry. The committee will work to restore confidence between Egyptians and the ministry by improving healthcare institutions and treatment, call for patient rights, and increase equality and justice in health care services. The working paper also called on health officials to redraft future ministry policies to open the door to NGOs to seriously participate in the policy and find solutions to the problems of the Egyptian doctors and all those employed by Egypt's health sector.
