Egyptian presidential candidate with Islamic background, Hazem Abu Ismail, criticized the Turkish Prime Minister for his declarations about secularism in Egypt. Erdogan praised Turkish secularism, which was surprising for many Islamic movements and groups in Egypt. The Turkish Prime Minister praised secularism at a time when Egyptian crowds were chanting for an Islamic caliphate. “It is very bizarre,” Hazem said. “The Turkish experiment won't be applied in Egypt. No doubts genuine Egyptians people can bring up their own experiment, to shine a bright beacon for the world, but not to employ secularism but through Islam,” Hazem said on his Facebook page.
