An official in the Chamber of Tourist Shops and Commodities, Abdel Moniem Keerat, said despite the state of deterioration in the chamber, its board is keen to compensate all bazaars that were harmed after the Egyptian January 25 Revolution. He added the chamber decided to pay 5,000 EGP (U.S. $839.5) for each bazaar. "Resolving the financial crisis is the chamber's board's main priority since the chamber could be dissolved if Egypt's Ministry of Tourism suspends its financial support offered to the chamber." He added members of the chamber will hold a meeting on September 23 to discuss ways to resolve the crisis with training programs of handicrafts offered by the chamber and the low number of the participants in the chamber. About the training project in the New Valley, Keerat said it was suspended because of the financial crisis in the chamber recently. The ministry did support the project. He added the ministry was supposedly supporting the project with 900,000 EGP (U.S. $151,000), while the chamber did not receive any support.
