Assem el-Gohary, Assistant Minister of Justice for Illicit Gains, froze assets belonging to fugitive businessman Hussein Salem and his family Monday. Salem, his wife Nazzima Abdel Megeid Ismail, his son Khaled, and his daughter Magda had their assets frozen and were placed on watch lists. Salem is connected to over 20 companies, including Naama Investments and Real Estate, The Luxor Grand Hotel, the Arab Oil Investment Company, United Victory Real Estate, Southern Sinai Water Company, Sharm el-Sheikh Real Estate and Free Markets, and the Crocodile Tourism Project Company. Investigators found that Salem and his family own 25 villas in Sharm el-Sheikh, Heliopolis, 6 October City, and Naama Bay, as well as a resort, three hotels, large pieces of land in New Cities, large pieces of agricultural land in Giza and Luxor, and two desalinations plants.
