The Ministry of Agriculture's Chairman of Central Quarantine, Dr Ali Soliman, said agricultural exports have not been influenced by recent events. Saudi Arabia recently issued a warning over Egyptian agricultural products after it discovered high levels of pesticide in produce imported from Egypt. "For the first time in decades, agriculture exports reached 1.5 million tons," said Soliman, who said officials in the department were keen to stay in their positions despite the turmoil of the January 25 Revolution. “Saudi Arabia informed us that it discovered agriculture pesticides residues in Strawberries and peppers,” Soliman said. “We sent a message to Saudi Arabia to know the types of pesticides to look for.”
