Israeli media criticizes Egyptian attack on Cairo Embassy
Published in Youm7 on 10 - 09 - 2011

The Israeli media strongly criticized the Egyptian demonstrators who destroyed the separating wall outside the Israeli Embassy in Cairo and removed the Israeli flag from the building for the second time, describing the demonstrators as “mobs.”
Israeli television Channel 10 said thousands of Egyptians headed to the Israeli Embassy in Cairo and started to destroy the wall around the embassy. It added that Tel-Aviv expects Egypt to protect the embassy.
Israeli television criticized the Egyptian protests, which are ongoing. It also criticized the Egyptian authorities for failing to deal with them. It added that the security measures taken by the police and the army could not contain the demonstrations.
In the same context, Israeli newspaper Marriv attacked the demonstrators for destroying the new separation wall that surrounded the Israeli Embassy in Cairo. It said the demonstrators were expressing their protest against the killing of Egyptian soldiers by the Israeli military on the Egypt-Israeli border last month.
Yediot Ahronot said the Egyptians resumed their protests in front of the Israeli Embassy in Cairo through removing the Israeli flag and replacing it with the Egyptian flag for the second time in two weeks. The newspaper said the event highlighted the notable deterioration in relations between the two countries since the signing of the Camp David peace treaty in 1979.
The Israeli newspaper said Israel's ambassador returned to Cairo this week after spending two weeks in Israel in the aftermath of the recent demonstrations that erupted after the violence that took place in Sinai. The newspaper asked that how the ambassador will do his role in the current atmosphere in Cairo.
In another context, the Israeli Authority to confront terrorism renewed its warnings to Israelis not to visit the Sinai Peninsula and to delay their journeys to Turkey, Kenya, Georgia and Morocco.
