CAIRO: The chairman of the Electricity Company of South Cairo denied any responsibility for cutting the electricity outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo. He added that the company has not received any complaints from residents of the area around the embassy. He also denied that there were any orders from security authorities to cut the electricity. He added that lighting the streets is the responsibility of Giza Governorate, not the Ministry of Electricity. On the other hand, Deputy Governor of Giza, Mahmoud Ashmawy, said the governorate has not decided to cut the electricity. Ashmawy told Youm7 that the main reason for the cut of electricity was that one of the demonstrators broke one of the lighting poles, which led to electrical trouble so the electricity company decided to cut the electricity. He added that the electricity will return to the area after the problem is resolved. He said that the wall destroyed by the demonstrators was established to protect the residents of the area, not the Israeli Embassy.
