MINYA, Egypt: Approximately 250 illegal actions on agricultural lands were removed in August. The illegal actions covers around 155 acres, according to the undersecretary of Ministry of Agriculture in Minya Hassan Fouly said. Part of the corruption in Egypt was taking agricultural land and building architecture on it and selling it for real estate. It is illegal to build on agricultural land since there isn't much arable in Egypt. He added approximately 2,040 illegal cases were removed in all towns in the governorate. He said by this figure, Minya is the first governorate in Egypt to get rid of illegal actions on agricultural lands. Minya coordinated with police and military forces to complete the plan of removing buildings of illegal actions. There are no curbs against the plan and the governorate put a monthly schedule to complete the program, according to Fouly.
