The Egyptian-Canadian Friendship Association is organizing the first Art Festival of Egyptian culture in Canada since 2004 in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. Director Lenin el Ramly will be presenting a new production called 'Our Egyptian Revolution.' El-Ramly told Youm7 he plans to travel to Canada on October 18 to participate in the festival. He will present a play which covers all the revolutions to ever occur in Egypt since the start of it colonization up to the January 25 Revolution. ‘Our Egyptian Revolution' was written and directed by Lenin el-Ramly and stars Lenin el-Ramly's theater troupe with Reda, dancing troupe with choreographer, Magdy Kulay. The Egyptian-Canadian Friendship Association was founded in 1990 to reunify Egyptian expatriates in Canada. Both English and Arabic publications were offered along with a variety of services. It also succeeded in attracting a large number of Egyptian artists, intellectuals and writers to participate in the Egyptian festival, which had a strong positive impact in spreading Egyptian art and culture between the different communities in Canada. Participating in the festival is the Egyptian Ballet troupe, Reda group of folk dancing, the composer Hany Shenouda among many others. The festival was awarded with many certificates of appreciation from official authorities and the Canadian Parliament. It also received a certificate of appreciation from the Prime Minister of Canada among others.
