BENI SUEF, Egypt: Young protestors in Beni Suef painted the Israeli flag on the ground as a protest against a border incident that resulted in the killing of five Egyptian soldiers by the Israeli military. Those who painted the flag said pedestrians did not wait for the paint to dry before they passed over it. A young Palestinian was the first to cross over the flag. Youth said the Pedestrians did not wait for the paint to dry before hurrying to stand on it. Ahmed Wageih said they drew another Israeli flag on the ground in Al-Zeraeen Square and burnt the Israeli flag there. He called residents of Beni Suef to walk on the painted flag to remind themselves of martyrs' blood and the Palestinian case. According to the youth, the angry reaction of the Egyptian street threatened Israel and sent the message that “from now we will never be silent on your violations which were disregarded by ousted President's regime.” Demonstrators also called for the expulsion of the Israeli Ambassador from Egypt. Two weeks ago, an Israeli helicopter killed five Egyptian soldiers as it pursued militants attempting to cross into Egypt near the Red Sea resort towns of Taba and Eilat.
