The Development and Institutionalization Support Center (DISC) obtained recognition of Ushahidi technology as an official partner for 2011 due to its efforts exerted by the center to support the technology in 2011. The technology was used for the first time to monitor violations committed by the Kenyan government during 2008 parliamentary elections. It was used also to monitor humanitarian needs during the Haiti crisis by helping humanitarian relief organizations. Al-Jazeera Channel used the technology to monitor the human rights violations by Israel during Gaza's war. An official in DISC, Heba Sadra, said her center used the technology to monitor Egypt's recent parliamentary elections in 2010, clarifying the technology revealed fraud in said elections to provide the dissolved National Democratic Party (NDP) with majority seats in the parliament. The technology allows citizens to provide centers with reports by phone calls and social networks to be published in public and media outlets. The center participates by supporting this technology in a number of Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Somalia. The executive manager of DISC, Kamal Nabiel, said the center will provide consultation services to the Tunisian elections committee to ensure the transparency and integrity of the next Tunisian governmental elections. He added they will also train civil society organizations and activists to use the technology to reveal any violations in the next Tunisian elections.
